ITEM TITLE:

Title

Motion 25-147, approving appointment of Kiran Asher to the Airport Commission

body

DEPARTMENT:  Airport

ORIGINATOR:  Emily Phillipe

EXECUTIVE RECOMMENDATION:  Michael Fong 3/4/25

PURPOSE: To fill a vacant position within the Airport Commission.

BACKGROUND:

The Airport Commission was established by Ordinance 17-003 on March 29, 2017.

The Airport Commission acts as an advisory board to the Executive.

The Airport Commission is composed of thirteen (13) members consisting of one person from each council district, three persons from the airport tenant community, three persons from the business community, and two persons from the county at large.

Mr. Mark Darrow, who represented airport tenants on the Airport Commission, recently sold his aircraft hangar at Snohomish County Paine Field and resigned from the Commission as he is no longer an airport tenant. Mr. Kiran Asher has applied to replace Darrow as a representative of airport tenants.

Mr. Asher has been an airport tenant since 2022 and currently owns two aircraft hangars at the Snohomish County Paine Field Airport. Mr. Asher’s educational background in business economics and marketing, combined with his passion for aviation, would make him a valuable asset to the Commission.

It is recommended that Mr. Asher fill the vacant Airport Tenant Representative position for the balance of the term, which is set to expire January 31, 2028.
