PURPOSE: ILA for supplemental law enforcement services for the City of Brier
BACKGROUND: The City of Brier Police Department consists of a police chief and six patrol officers. The city has lost their police chief and four of the six police officers; leaving only two police officers for the city. The city of Brier has requested the county provide supplemental law enforcement services to help cover the city while they try to hire a police chief and four police officers. Under this ILA the Sheriff’s Office will provide 40 hours of patrol coverage by deputy sheriffs on overtime on the weekends, as well as handle priority calls for service in the city from 2AM to 6AM every day. The Sheriff’s Office will also provide a Sheriff’s Office sergeant to serve as an administrative officer to serve as a de facto police chief until the city of Brier can hire their own police chief. The City of Brier will pay for all costs associated with deputy sheriff coverage on overtime and the Sheriff’s Office sergeant serving as the administrative officer. This ILA is in place until the end of the year and contains two (2) additional six (6) month extensions.
