EXECUTIVE RECOMMENDATION: Approved by lacey harper 3/11/24
PURPOSE: Approve agreement for affiliation with University of Washington School of Public Health who wish to place student interns and promote public health as a career path. The Snohomish County Council passed Ordinance No. 24-002 approving form agreements for affiliation between Snohomish County and affiliation schools effective March 9, 2024.
BACKGROUND: Prior to the Snohomish Health District’s integration into Snohomish County they entered into affiliation agreements with schools wishing to place student interns and would like to continue these partnerships. The Snohomish County Health Department recognizes that internships provide the student with practical experiences in health-related, safety, and emergency management settings under appropriate supervision and gives students the chance to explore public health as a potential career path. Internships in public health allow students to develop essential skills in real-world applications, such as data analysis, research methodology, communication, teamwork, and problem-solving.
