ITEM TITLE:

Title

Authorizing the Executive to sign of Change Order CO-10 to Bid PW-24-027SB for the Construction at the New Start Center of Everett with Marpac Construction LLC.

body

DEPARTMENT:  Facilities and Fleet Management

ORIGINATOR:  Lance Meinhold

EXECUTIVE RECOMMENDATION:  Approved

PURPOSE: To obtain Executive approval of Change Order 10 to Marpac Construction.

BACKGROUND: The County and Marpac Construction entered into an agreement on December 18th, 2024, for the construction phase of the New Start Center of Everett. Several doors have been damaged or are no longer suitable for their intended purposes, as determined after the bidding period. The contractor will demolish, provide, and install doors and door hardware to replace the non-functioning doors indicated on the PR-02 Drawings, includes reframing as required. The moisture remediation process required the removal of additional flooring. The change order includes the costs to provide and install flooring in these areas. The sanitary sewer line in a portion of Building A does not follow the as-built drawings. The condition could not be seen until after the concrete floor slab was removed. The change order includes the replacement of the floor slab in the area. After the bid process, it has been determined the existing, exterior planter boxes will need to be removed and the areas will be repainted to match the adjacent conditions. Plan changes after the bid process have necessitated the addition of restroom mirrors. The electrical connections to HVAC equipment OAP 1 and OAP 2 were not clear as to if the condition was existing or new on the bid documents. The contractor has agreed to split the costs. The total for these changes has been negotiated down from $155,226.44.
