PURPOSE: To approve the recommendation to award the City of Stanwood funds of up to $1,750,000 for emergency repairs to a portion of the Skagit Bay Dike
BACKGROUND: The City of Stanwood is coordinating local efforts to update and renovate Diking District 7’s levee system known as the Skagit Bay Dike, owned and maintained by Diking District 7. Per RCW 39.34, the County will provide funds to the City of Stanwood for completing emergency repairs to a portion of the Skagit Bay Dike. The funding agreement will be in effect through December 31, 2026, and may be extended or renewed for up to two additional one-year terms. The City of Stanwood will be solely responsible for the management of the project, including remediation, as identified and detailed in the interlocal agreement. Passage of this Ordinance will authorize the Executive to execute the attached Interlocal Agreement with the City of Stanwood as provided in RCW 39.34. The ILA and ordinance have been reviewed and Approved to Form by Rebecca Wendling.
