PURPOSE: Approval of this Right-of-Way (ROW) plan will allow the ROW acquisition phase for the Ash Way: 164th St SW to Gibson Rd project.
BACKGROUND: The purpose of the project is to reduce delay, improve safety, promote multi-modal mobility throughout the corridor and provide non-motorized access to future light rail stations. Construction and ROW funding is only secured for Phase 2 (from 135th St SW to Admiralty Way / Gibson Rd). Phase 2 requires ROW acquisition from 59 parcels. Ultimately, the County estimates purchasing ROW from 161 parcels. The ROW stage for Phase 2 is currently funded through County Road Funds and is scheduled to begin in Q3 2023. The project is located within Council District #3. Community outreach completed to date includes mailers (3000 sent), project website, one-on-one coordination with 97 out of 222 parcels, and public meetings (June 2015 and Oct 2022). Public Works and Planning & Development Services have on-going collaboration to review developers’ pre-submittals.
