PURPOSE: Reappointment of John Natterstad to the Snohomish County Veterans Assistance Fund Executive Board.

 

BACKGROUND: The Snohomish County Veterans Assistance Fund Executive Board was established by Ordinance 95-088, effective November 11, 1995, to advise the County on matters relating to veterans under RCW 73.08. The purpose of the Veterans Assistance Fund (VAF) is to provide emergency assistance to honorably discharged veterans and eligible dependents. Vouchers are provided for basic necessities including food, rent, utilities and other emergency needs. The Veterans Assistance Fund Executive Board is comprised of members of nationally recognized veterans’ service organizations or the veterans’ community at large. Board members are recommended by the County Executive and confirmed by the County Council pursuant to Chapter 2.03 of the Snohomish County Code. Members serve four-year terms and may not serve more than three consecutive terms.

The following member is seeking reappointment to the Veterans Assistance Fund Executive Board: 

John L. Natterstad, residing in Council District 1, served active duty in the United States Air Force for two years and in the Army National Guard for over 30 years. Mr. Natterstad is a retired teacher and football and baseball coach. He served on the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve executive committee and has run a community garden. He holds a BA from the University of Washington. Mr. Natterstad will be representing the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
