PURPOSE: Motion to appoint Kerry Canning to the Developmental Disabilities Citizen Advisory Board.
BACKGROUND: The Developmental Disabilities Citizen Advisory Board is comprised of citizens who serve in an advisory capacity to the Developmental Disability staff of the Snohomish County Human Services Department. The Board meets monthly, and is comprised of up to 15 members, drawing from all areas of the county and a range of backgrounds, including family members, individuals with developmental disabilities, professionals, and advocates.
• Kerry Canning resides in Council District 3
• Kerry Canning holds a Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from the University of Utah
• Kerry Canning has 15 years of experience working with children and young adults ages birth to 21
• Kerry Canning currently works in the Seattle Public School system, serving individuals from birth to 21
• Kerry Canning has previously worked with the Alpine Union School District, the Lake Washington School District, the Mosaic Children’s Therapy Clinic, Consonus Rehabilitation, and Harborview Medical Center
• Kerry Canning is not a member of any other County board or commission
• Kerry Canning is recommended for an initial three-year term upon her appointment
