EXECUTIVE RECOMMENDATION: Approved
PURPOSE: Execute Amendment No. 1 with Washington State Department of Ecology. The negative balance in the Model Toxics Control Act (MTCA) Operating Account has resulted in the Hazardous Waste and Toxics Reduction (HWTR) Program, reducing funds originally provided in agreements with Pollution Prevention Assistance Partnership (PPA) partners. Amendment No. 1 reflects the modified budget and deliverables.
BACKGROUND: Pollution Prevention Assistance (PPA) Specialists will provide technical assistance and educational outreach to businesses that are small quantity generators of dangerous waste in an effort to prevent pollution of waters of the state as part of the Pollution Prevention Assistance Partnership (formerly known as the Local Source Control (LSC) Partnership). The mission of the Pollution Prevention Assistance Partnership is: “We protect Washington’s residents and environment by helping small businesses reduce toxic chemical use, safely manage dangerous waste, and keep stormwater free of pollutants.”
