Motion 24-187, authorizing the Executive to sign the agreement for transportation services with peer navigation with Ideal Option PLLC

body

DEPARTMENT:  Health Department

ORIGINATOR:  Rhonda Smids-Osborne

EXECUTIVE RECOMMENDATION:  Lacey Harper 4/18/24

PURPOSE: This Agreement is the product of County RFP No. 23-059TB Transportation Services, Sky Valley Expansion and Peer Navigator Pilot Program. The Health Department would like to enter into an agreement with Ideal Option PLLC to provide transportation services with peer navigation to individuals and ensure widespread access to healthcare services. The anticipated outcome of this project is increased access to treatment and recovery support services for individuals with substance use disorders living within the census tract, including the Sky Valley Corridor communities of Index, Startup, and Sultan.  Additionally, this project will allow a peer navigator to conduct outreach and engagement activities with people who use drugs to provide connections to treatment and other services (such as naloxone).

BACKGROUND: This project is a part of the Health Departments larger opioid work that seeks to ensure that community members in rural areas have access to treatment resources. Successful treatment requires a community of providers such as pharmacy, behavioral health, and social services. Unfortunately, these providers are limited or nonexistent within and along the HRSA rural boundaries. Medication access and adherence are critical to the success of evidence-based medication assisted treatment. The towns of Gold Bar and Index currently do not have pharmacy access in their local community. This project seeks to eliminate this barrier by transporting individuals to areas with great resources and then back to their home.
