Title

Motion 26-449 approving amendment to SFY 2027 Victim Witness DV specific grant

body

DEPARTMENT:  Prosecuting Attorney

ORIGINATOR:  Coltin Hardy

EXECUTIVE RECOMMENDATION:  Approved by Alessandra Szebenyi 10/30/26

PURPOSE: To obtain Council’s approval authorizing the Executive to sign Amendment A to contract S27-31115-022 with the Washington State Department of Commerce for the SFY 2027 Victim Witness DV Specific Grant.

BACKGROUND: In SFY 2026, The Office of Crime Victims Advocacy (OCVA) in the Washington State Department of Commerce (DOC) awarded the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office (PAO) a $41,317.00 grant (S26-31115-022) for advocacy services provided on behalf of DV clients.  For SFY 2027, OCVA awarded the PAO a similar grant for $50,000.00.  The term of the grant is July 1, 2026 - June 30, 2027.  Additionally, the grantor awarded the PAO an additional $50,661.00 in the form of an amendment.  This amendment would make the grant amount $100,661.00 which requires Council approval.  Although this funding does not fully fund any component of the program, these funds offset the reliance on the GF.
