Title

body
DEPARTMENT: Executive Office of Recovery & Resilience
ORIGINATOR: Jessica Ruhle for Kara Main-Hester
EXECUTIVE RECOMMENDATION: Approve
PURPOSE: Approving and authorizing the execution of the agreement between Snohomish County and Ziply Fiber Northwest, LLC for the Verlot Broadband Project.
BACKGROUND: Snohomish County Council created the Office of Recovery & Resilience (ORR) through the budget to aid in the distribution of the ARPA funds, and ORR has designated $8,200,000 for Broadband Access Programs. Snohomish County submitted five project applications to the Washington State Department of Commerce, Broadband Office (“WSBO”) with Ziply Fiber Northwest, LLC to construct a Fiber to the Premise (FttP) network, that will replace an existing low-capacity copper network with fiber optics capable of delivering a minimum of symmetrical 1/1 Gigabit per second. All five projects were determined to be eligible for funding by WSBO but did not receive funding. Of them, the Verlot project was selected because it will provide service to one or more Community Anchor Institutions.
