ITEM TITLE:
Title
Motion 26-443, authorizing the Executive to sign grant agreement with Washington State Department of Commerce for community-based violence intervention and prevention services
body
DEPARTMENT: Health
ORIGINATOR: Rhonda Smids-Osborne
EXECUTIVE RECOMMENDATION: Approved by Lacey Harper 10/28/26
PURPOSE: Authorize the Snohomish County Executive to enter into a grant agreement with the Washington State Department of Commerce to support the delivery of community-based violence intervention and prevention services. This agreement will enable the Health Department to continue developing and implementing strategies that reduce violence and strengthen community safety throughout the county.
BACKGROUND: In February 2025, the Snohomish County Health Department received initial funding from the Washington State Department of Commerce to establish a multidisciplinary Community Safety Council, conduct a landscape analysis, and develop a comprehensive violence reduction plan. The new grant funding will allow the Health Department to advance the implementation of the plan’s recommended measures while continuing to convene the Community Safety Council. Through these coordinated efforts, the program will support sustainable, community-driven approaches to reducing violence and enhancing public safety across Snohomish County.
