PURPOSE: Approving the 2025 Professional Services Agreement with Economic Alliance Snohomish County for business retention and expansion sector and projects of countywide significance support.
BACKGROUND: WHEREAS, the economic vitality and quality of life in Snohomish County is dependent on our region’s ability to attract, and retain businesses; and WHEREAS, Economic Alliance Snohomish County was developed as a nonprofit organization for the purpose of promoting economic development in Snohomish County, and serves as Snohomish County’s designated associate development organization; and WHEREAS, Economic Alliance Snohomish County is committed to growing and nurturing a globally competitive regional economy; and WHEREAS, Economic Alliance Snohomish County’s mission to advance commerce and community development through inclusive advocacy, services and resources is aligned with Snohomish County’s economic development strategies; and WHEREAS, Economic Alliance Snohomish County will advocate for policies and resources at the local, state, and federal levels to support Snohomish County’s economic development through investing in world-class transportation systems and infrastructure; education and workforce training; and global competitiveness as a business and investment location; and WHEREAS, Economic Alliance Snohomish County will coordinate business and industry recruitment, and broader economic development activities with the County’s Office of Trade and Economic Development, including marketing and communications; NOW, THEREFORE, ON MOTION, the County Council hereby authorizes the Executive to sign the 2025 contract with Economic Alliance Snohomish County to continue implementation of an approved economic development plan for Snohomish County.
