ITEM TITLE:

Title

Motion 26-186, authorizing the County Executive to execute Contract Amendment 3 for additional services for RFP-020-21BC with Washington Alarm, Inc. at Snohomish County Airport

body

DEPARTMENT:  Airport Fire

ORIGINATOR:  Joshua Cole

EXECUTIVE RECOMMENDATION:  Approved by Lacey Harper 4/28/26

PURPOSE: To authorize the County Executive to increase contract amount with Washington Alarm, Inc. pursuant to RFP-020-21BC for Fire Alarm System Monitoring Services at Snohomish County Airport

BACKGROUND:

The Airport requires fire alarm system monitoring services including 24-hour monitoring, periodic testing, required reporting elements, maintenance, on-call repair service, and related equipment repairs at various Airport locations.

The Snohomish County Airport entered into a contract with Washington Alarm for Fire Alarm System Monitoring services effective from February 1, 2022, through January 31, 2025, approved by County Council via Motion 22-076 on March 16, 2022 totaling $60,000.

The Airport added three additional buildings to the contract via Amendment No. 1 that was approved by Purchasing and did not result in an increase to the contract.

The Airport added an additional $100,000 and extended the end of the contract through to January 31, 2027, for a maximum contract not to exceed $160,000.00, via Amendment No. 2, approved by Council via Motion 25-080 on March 3, 2025.

The Airport requires additional funds in the amount of $80,000.00 added to this contract to continue Washington Alarm’s services and for unanticipated emergency repairs and replacement of aging and obsolete equipment, for a maximum contract not to exceed $240,000.00.
