PURPOSE: To obtain the Executive’s approval of our application for the Victim Witness Assistance Grant Program from the Office of Crime Victims Advocacy (OCVA) in the Washington State Department of Commerce (DOC).
BACKGROUND: DOC administers the state’s Victim Witness Grant Program and allocates funds on a formula basis to all 39 counties in the state. Snohomish County’s allocation is $80,444. The Prosecuting Attorney’s Office (PAO) uses these funds to support its victim/witness assistance program which is an invaluable resource for those harmed by crime. The PAO has received this assistance since 2006. The PAO seeks the Executive’s approval/signature on the grant application for SFY 2026, which begins July 1, 2025, and ends June 30, 2026. The Executive’s signature is needed on pages 11 and 14. The grant is included in the PAO’s approved Grant Work Plan for 2025, please see Motion 24-380, ECAF 2024-2027. The grant application is due Wednesday, May 21, 2025.
