PURPOSE: Acknowledgement of Signatures Electronically for Annual Report
BACKGROUND: When asset seizures are initiated on a case that is large enough to be turned over and tried by the US Department of Justice or Treasury, the local agency that developed the case is generally entitled to request a portion of the assets’ forfeited proceeds through an equitable sharing request form (DAG-71). The US Department of Justice or Treasury transfer funds to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office, based on a Federal Equitable Sharing Agreement they have on file. The agreement identifies specific accounting requirements for the funds received from the DOJ or Treasury, including the submittal of an annual report of forfeited funds received from the Justice or Treasury departments, and conditions of expenditures or distributions. The Federal Annual Certification Report is submitted through an online web portal. Signatures on the report are electronic at time of report submission. This ECAF is to obtain approval from and authorization to submit the form on behalf of the Agency Head and the Governing Body Head The attached report certifies federal asset shares receipted during FY2024($7,226.23 from the US Department of Justice and $13,192.03 from the US Treasury).
