PURPOSE: Executive approval of 2025 Boating Safety Grant
BACKGROUND: The Washington State Parks & Recreation Commission distributes Vessel Registration revenue to Counties with approved boating safety programs each year. Snohomish County has received funding in past years consistent with RCW 39.24.130 and has an approved boating program. In addition to that revenue, Washington State Parks distributes federal US Coast Guard funds to provide financial assistance with special emphasis related to marine patrols. Agencies with approved boating programs are eligible to apply. Federal Financial Assistance grants were allocated via a formula distribution, of which Snohomish County has been allocated $25,514.57 for the agreement expiring December 31, 2025. The grant will provide more hours of on-the-water patrols, as well as additional maintenance and operation funding for our boating program. The Sheriff is requesting Executive approval of the 2025 Boating Assistance grant award totaling $25,514.57.
