PURPOSE: The Everett Film Festival provides educational programs centered on diversity, equity and inclusion. This program has been in place for over 25 years. Investment dollars will provide for the educational training costs associated with the ability for the community to participate. Films are screened in a way that provides support to BIPOC families who live and work in Snohomish County. These community-led practices work to reduce systemic racism and disparities in Snohomish County. The Everett Film Festival benefits the community in an effective but indirect way by offering insight into the lives of a diverse population thus widening the community’s awareness and educating them through powerful film presentations. This valuable education opportunity is open to the public and funding covers expenses.
BACKGROUND: The Office of Social Justice has been directed to provide community investment funding to BIPOC non-profit organizations operating within Snohomish County.
