PURPOSE: Leadership Launch is a 10-year-old non-profit organization in Snohomish County. In the past, they have engaged with students in an annual community event to address a gap or need that they identify (resource fairs, culture night/dinners, youth mental health fair/workshops, etc.). Based on feedback from our students, they are initiating a 9-month curriculum this year that focuses on the principles of “Warriors for the Human Spirit” and can be summarized by “Take care of oneself, take care of others, and take care of this place.” They are working with students to identify what is NOT working in their communities and providing tools to foster working together to find ways to invest their time, energy, and talents to work to create a better future. This funding would be directed toward building infrastructure and curriculum supplies and any costs incurred with their efforts to “take care of this place/others.” Community investment funding will be used to pay for materials, curriculum and supplies to complete this project.
BACKGROUND: The Office of Social Justice has been directed to provide investment funding for BIPOC organizations operating within Snohomish County.
