PURPOSE: The WAWAC After School Program" provides a platform for kids to build relationships and enhance their social skills by engaging in creative fun art projects. The BIDEWW "After School Program forms part of WAWAC'S drive to provide the kids of our community a safe and healthy environment to remain productive and also cultivate positive social skills. Through this platform, they explore their artistic instincts through collaborative art projects - painting and drawing, tie & dye, cinematography, dance etc. This program holds significant value for our kids because it inspires them to be creatively driven at an early age, an opportunity that they don't ordinarily receive from their parents because most West African parents deem art as a "waste of time" - This grossly deprives kids the possibility to explore their creativity. Investment funding will be used to pay for supplies and materials for BIPOC youth to attend.
BACKGROUND: The Office of Social Justice has been directed to provide investment funding to BIPOC organizations operating within Snohomish County.
