DEPARTMENT: Executive's Office
ORIGINATOR: Ty Trenary
EXECUTIVE RECOMMENDATION: Approved
PURPOSE: Recognizing the crucial role of English proficiency in enhancing employment opportunities and social integration, MADRES has contracted Everett Community College as a service provider to deliver weekly evening English classes over three quarters in the Casino Road neighborhood. This initiative is strategically designed to complement the existing educational programs, specifically targeting adult learners with daytime work commitments who require flexible learning schedules. By offering these classes in the evenings, MADRES will ensure broader accessibility and increased participation, enabling more community members to benefit from language education. The program aims to improve language skills, foster greater community cohesion, and empower individuals, thus preparing participants for broader societal interactions and professional advancement. This funding will equip community members with essential skills for immediate and long-term success, aligning with our broader mission of empowering individuals through education. Community Investment funds will be used to pay for the ELL program costs in accordance with this agreement.
