PURPOSE: To approve the Laboratory Services Agreement with Labcorp for Genetic Testing Services.
BACKGROUND: The medical examiner’s office utilizes genetic testing for certain decedents. Invitae recently went bankrupt and was purchased by LabCorp. This acquisition resulted in price and policy changes. To receive testing at $300/test, LabCorp stated we needed to make an account, which is done via executing this service agreement. Signing this Laboratory Services Agreement will allow the county to pay $300/test instead of $4,000. This is not a do-not-exceed type contract, nor does it limit a certain number of tests, it only locks in the price per test. A bid is not needed here as we do no anticipate exceeding $10,000/year. Please also note that DAC 4170 was budged at $30,000 due to price being estimated at $1,500 per test during budget season. We likely will need less than $10,000 per year.
