PURPOSE: The Clearwater School is requesting funding for the launch of an after-school Arts Drop In program that serves children of all ages and their families. The program will be held once a week throughout the school year. It provides a supported maker space for multimedia arts expression: visual, music, film, and theater arts with activities tailored to the participants’ interests. This program is open to all families and will be intentionally neurodiverse inclusive. Students may attend alone, or parents can stay to participate. This model includes the entire family which is culturally responsive to our family centered Latina families. TCS will offer separate parent and child support circles that allow open sharing of experiences with respective peers and focus on how to best support neurodiversity. Circles will be bilingual, Spanish and English, to promote inclusion and allow people to get to know each other across language barriers. Funding will be used to pay for the supplies and costs of the program.
BACKGROUND: The Office of Social Justice has been directed to provide funding in support of diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts within Snohomish County.
