EXECUTIVE RECOMMENDATION: Approved
PURPOSE: The Out-Of-School-Time Program (OST) is situated in low-income housing areas or community centers, and often serves underprivileged, minority, and at-risk children. By integrating Camp Fire curriculum, these spaces offer activities aimed at strengthening family and community bonds. The program’s expected impact is multifaceted: it provides children with positive adult influences, fosters self-esteem, offers opportunities for social skill development, instills a sense of community service, promotes healthy family activities, and ensures enjoyment. These enriching experiences are designed to mitigate drug use, gang affiliation, domestic violence, and school attrition. Funding will be used to pay for the costs associated with the Out Of Time Program.
BACKGROUND: The Office of Social Justice has been directed to provide funding in support of diversity, equity and inclusion efforts within Snohomish County.
