PURPOSE: Orquesta NW is a local non-profit who works to support musical/orchestra instruction with a focus on culture and diverse programs. Sponsorship funding will be used to support ten weeks (October-December 2024) of Orquesta Northwest’s World Youth Orchestra after-school music program, offering weekly instruction, without charge, in Spanish and English by experienced, professional teaching artists for thirty BIPOC Lynnwood youth. The project promotes inclusion, social justice, and a positive future in Snohomish County by providing classical music education to under-served, BIPOC and Latinx youth.
BACKGROUND: The Office of Social Justice has been directed to provide sponsorship funding in support of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts.
