PURPOSE: The South Everett/Casino community, which is statistically lower to moderate income, benefits from having access to maritime activities and the marine environment by engaging BIPOC parents, families and caregivers in experiencing sailing aboard Adventuress, they can see first-hand the extensive safety procedures and practices in place aboard the ship. This allows for greater participation for children and teens whose families are reticent to allow them to participate in the week-long education programs, due to being of the statistically lower to moderate income. Sponsorship funding will be used to pay for materials and supplies related to engage 80 family members including parents, caregivers and youth in programming that support diversity, equity, and inclusion.
BACKGROUND: The Office of Social Justice has been directed to provide sponsorship funding in support of diversity, equity and inclusion.
