Approval of SFY 2025 Victim Witness Assistance Grant with the Washington State Department of Commerce

EXECUTIVE RECOMMENDATION:
PURPOSE: To obtain the Executive's approval on the SFY 2025 Victim Witness Assistance Grant awarded by the Washington State Department of Commerce (DOC) to the Prosecuting Attorney's Office (PAO).
BACKGROUND: The DOC has awarded the PAO a $80,444 grant, starting July 1, 2024, and ending June 30, 2025, to support our Victim Witness Assistance Program. The PAO will use the grant funds to support two of our Victim Witness Advocates in Fund 118, who work with victims and witnesses involved in our criminal cases. The PAO has received this formula-based grant since 2006. This grant is part of the PAO's 2024 Grant Work Plan that the Council has approved, and per SCC 2.10.010(28), the Executive has the authority to approve grant awards included in the Grant Work Plan. The grant agreement is attached to this ECAF as a PDF; the DocuSign version has been provided to the Executive directly. Once the Legistar approval process is complete, I have asked the Executive to please sign the DocuSign version which will then move directly and electronically to DOC for final signature.
