ITEM TITLE:
Title
2024 Washington Auto Theft Task Force Mini Grant Application
body
DEPARTMENT: Sheriff
ORIGINATOR: Pauline Sanders
EXECUTIVE RECOMMENDATION: Approved
PURPOSE: To secure additional funding to cover overtime cost for Public Outreach and enforcement/investigations.
BACKGROUND: * Overtime allocations for 2023-2025 WATPA grant are $10,000.00. This amount was to cover overtime cost for July 1, 2023 - June 30, 2025. Most recovery operations are conducted after normal work hours and require overtime. The $10,000.00 falls short of covering the overtime cost for recovery. *Washington Auto Theft Prevention Authority (WATPA) has made additional funding available to agencies to cover additional cost the agencies anticipate incurring. *With the additional funding the Snohomish County Auto Theft Task Force would be able to cover a portion of overtime cost for recovery operations, host additional community events, purchase equipment and attend vehicle technology training to ensure each detective is current with any advancements in vehicle technology. *The Sheriff's Office is requesting Executive approval to apply for the WATPA mini grant in the amount of $27,990.00 with matching funds of $3,900.00.
