PURPOSE: To obtain the Executive’s approval of the Prosecuting Attorney’s Application to the Office of Crime Victims Advocacy (OCVA) in the Washington State Department of Commerce (DOC) for the 2024-25 Victim/Witness Assistance Grant.
BACKGROUND: DOC administers the state’s Victim/ Witness Assistance Grant Program and allocates funds on a formula basis to all 39 counties in the state. Snohomish County’s allocation is $80,444. The Prosecuting Attorney’s Office (PAO) uses these funds to support its victim/witness support program which is an invaluable resource for those harmed by crime. The PAO has received this assistance since 2006. The PAO seeks the Executive’s approval/signature on the grant application for SFY 2025, which begins July 1, 2024, and ends June 30, 2025. The Executive’s signature is needed on pages 5, 9, and 13. The grant is included in the PAO’s approved Grant Work Plan for 2024, please see Motion 23-433, ECAF 2023-1082. The grant application is due Wednesday, May 22, 2024.
