PURPOSE: Executive signature on the Cooperative Agreement between Snohomish County and the USDA Forest Service
BACKGROUND: Snohomish County and the US Forest Service have had a contractual signed relationship for the provision of law enforcement services in place since 1988. US Forest Rangers have limited law enforcement authority as it relates to Federal Law and no authority as it relates to Washington State Law. This contract provides for a deputy sheriff to work cooperatively with the Forest Service on Forest Service land to meet law enforcement needs. Attached is copy of the contract, a five-year Cooperative Law Enforcement Agreement, effective through December 31, 2028. Exhibit A of the contract is an annual Operating and Financial plan that provides reimbursement for law enforcement services up to $20,944 during fiscal year 2024.
