PURPOSE: The agreement will enable the Health Department to assess food assistance accessibility, identify navigation challenges, and develop educational tools and workshops to help community-based organizations, staff, volunteers, and residents more effectively enroll in and maintain food assistance benefits.
BACKGROUND: Snohomish County continues to experience gaps in residents’ ability to access and retain food assistance benefits, underscoring the need for targeted support and clearer navigation resources. Through this grant funding, the Health Department will implement a program designed to strengthen food assistance access, improve benefit enrollment processes, and provide in-language educational materials for diverse communities. These efforts aim to enhance support for service providers and residents alike, ultimately improving overall food security and well-being across the county.
