PURPOSE: Authorize the Service agreement between Snohomish County and the Athena Group LLC, not to exceed $10,738.30
BACKGROUND: SCC 4.118.010 establishes the Tourism Promotion Area (TPA) pursuant to RCW 35.101.080 and authorizes the County to administer revenues dedicated to tourism development and promotion. The Snohomish County Lodging Tax Advisory Committee (LTAC) provides recommendations regarding the use of lodging tax revenues, while the TPA Board oversees the allocation of TPA revenues for eligible tourism promotion activities. The TPA Board hold an retreat a TPA and LTAC hold an joint retreat to provide an opportunity for the two advisory bodies to review their respective roles and responsibilities, discuss tourism and lodging industry priorities, evaluate current and anticipated funding needs, and strengthen coordination in support of Snohomish County's tourism programs. The retreat also provides an opportunity to discuss strategic priorities and identify areas for improved collaboration between the TPA, LTAC, County staff, and tourism industry partners. The attached contract provides funding for facilitation and related expenses associated with a TPA board retreat and joint TPA and LTAC retreat. The contract is within is within the Executive's authority to execute as outline in Motion 26-074.
