PURPOSE: Approval for 2025-2026 WA Dept. of Commerce Byrne Justise Assistance Technology Improvement Grant.
BACKGROUND: *This grant award will provide funding for the purchase of an MX908 Drug Detection Device, an advanced analytical instrument that will enhance the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office Regional Drug Task Force's (SRDTF) ability to rapidly identify hazardous substances present in illicit drugs currently circulating throughout the community. *The SRDTF will partner with the Snohomish County Medical Examiner's Office to maximize the benefits of this technology. The device will provide valuable data to support death investigations, improve the identification of emerging drug trends, and strengthen collaboration between the two agencies in addressing the ongoing opioid and illicit drug crisis. *This grant does not require a funding match. The Snohomish County Sheriff's Office is requesting Executive approval to accept the 2025-2026 Washington State Department of Commerce Byrne Justice Assistance Technology Improvement Grant award in the amount of $81,500 for the purchase of the MX908 Drug Detection Device.
