PURPOSE: To obtain Executive approval of Change Order 41 to Marpac Construction.
BACKGROUND: The County and Marpac Construction entered into an agreement on December 18th, 2024, for the construction phase of the New Start Center of Everett. During construction it was noticed the mechanical closer in the front room, which previously contained a single hot water tank, did not have a heat source. The room was repurposed to house the fire riser for the building. In order to prevent the pipes from freezing, this change order is adding a wall heater to the space. While completing circuiting runs between the new gear and the new panels, the electricians noticed some of the panels are full and some have plenty of space. This change order more evenly balances those loads. The existing breaker for the PTAC unit in the multi-purpose space was undersized. This change order corrects that deficiency and should lessen tripping and chances of a fire. The TSA requested an additional electrical outlet for their computer servers. Washington Alarm required an additional electrical outlet for the digital dialer that is now used in lieu of an analog phone line for the fire alarm system. The electrical changes for this change order were all tracked on a time and materials basis, with the general contractor verifying the labor hours from the electricians. The scope of the graffiti coating was reduced to eliminate the areas inside the fence, where the operator will be providing security 24/7.
