ITEM TITLE:
Title
Authorizing the County Executive to sign Change Order CO-27 to Bid PW-24-028SB with Lincoln Construction, Inc. for the Construction at the New Start Center of Edmonds.
body
DEPARTMENT: Facilities and Fleet

ORIGINATOR: Lance Meinhold

EXECUTIVE RECOMMENDATION: Approved

PURPOSE: To obtain Executive approval of Change Order 27 to Lincoln Construction, Inc.

BACKGROUND: The County and Lincoln Construction Inc. (LCi) entered into an agreement on December 19th, 2024, for the construction phase of the New Start Center of Edmonds. The City of Edmonds' adopted an amendment to the fire code requiring a type of fire alarm for multi-family residential units which does not exist. The fire alarm contractor bid the project on the assumption the city would accept devices similar to those excepted in other jurisdictions throughout Snohomish County. The city did not accept those devices. After several rounds of suggestions and conversations with the fire marshal, all agreed on these proposed devices. The alternative would have been to install additional, secondary devices in every room, doubling the cost of the fire alarm system - approximately ten times this proposed amount.
