PURPOSE: The Casino Road area of South Everett is a food desert and one of the county’s most diverse and underserved communities. VOAWW will support Snohomish County’s response to major cuts in SNAP, WIC and other critical food programs, to the closure of a local grocery store, and to refill shelves that are quickly going empty. As part of a multi-agency coalition at Connect Casino Road our food pantries are vital lifelines for the clients of over 10 other nonprofit agencies, serving local residents who may not have full access to traditional food support.
BACKGROUND: The Office of Social Justice has been directed to provide community investment funding to BIPOC non-profit organizations operating within Snohomish County.
