EXECUTIVE RECOMMENDATION: Approved
PURPOSE: To obtain Executive approval of Change Order 26 to Marpac Construction.
BACKGROUND: The County and Marpac Construction entered into an agreement on December 18th, 2024, for the construction phase of the New Start Center of Everett. After the bids and plan review the Fire Marshal has requested two items revised during pre-inspection site walks. First, the Fire Marshal is requiring a new Knox Box, this is the lock box containing a key for emergency access to the building. Second, the Fire Marshal is requiring a change to the addressable fire alarm system. The revised equipment will indicate which alarm is being triggered if a single alarm is set off. If more than one alarm is triggered, then the entire system will activate to evacuate the entire building. Wall surfaces in the kitchen and lobby area that were previously behind cabinetry and equipment during the bid phase have been discovered in an unfinished condition. This change order will install code compliant finishes at those areas.
