PURPOSE: Authorize the Arts Commission purchase of five 58“ maritime buoys for a series of World Cup-related public art installations to encourage economic development and tourism, not to exceed $15,492.20. Authorization will allow Fiscal Analyst to create a purchase requisition with Purchasing in order to create a purchase order for buoys.
BACKGROUND: 2.95.010 establishes the Snohomish County Arts Commission pursuant to RCW 35.101.080. The purpose of the Arts Commission is to propose and oversee a county arts program. The Arts Commission shall serve as an advisory board to the executive branch of county government and perform the arts-related duties described in SCC 2.95.040 <https://snohomish.county.codes/SCC/2.95.040>. The FIFA soccer ball installation project has been conceived of and approved by the Arts Commission Board, with the endorsement of both the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and Council. This project is within the Executive’s authority to execute as outlined in EO 25-01. This contract is for purchasing five 58” maritime buoys for art installations. The project has a total value of $15,492.20.
