EXECUTIVE RECOMMENDATION: Approved
PURPOSE: To provide mandated legal defense services in a case that is a conflict of interest to the County’s contract with the Public Defender Association (PDA) for the period from August 1, 2025 to August 31, 2026. This contractor is already familiar with the case and it will cost the County less to contract with this contractor than to assign the case to an existing contractor.
BACKGROUND: The case types covered under this contract can include as noted on the contract Misdemeanors, Class, A, B, and C Felony cases, Expedited Felonies, Juvenile criminal charges, Miscellaneous Superior court case types, RALJ (appeals from District court to Superior court), Civil protection orders, and Child Dependency cases. $25,000 is the NTE amount for this contract to cover the costs of completing this case
