EXECUTIVE RECOMMENDATION: Approved
PURPOSE: The County and Marpac Construction entered into an agreement on December 18th, 2024, for the construction phase of the New Start Center of Everett. The backside of the tub and shower surrounds have been found to contain asbestos. The material will need to be abated, rather than demolished. The contractor will charge on a time and materials basis, not to exceed $109,663.39 (before overhead, profit, and taxes) without written authorization from the Owner to continue. Timesheets from the abatement subcontractor shall be signed by the general contractor's superintendent as witness to the work. Receipts shall be provided for equipment and materials used to complete the abatement work. $17,245.00 of the contract sum from Change Order 11 shall be applied to this scope of work as the demolition scope in Change Order 11 must now be handled as abatement work.
