ITEM TITLE:
Title
Authorizing the Executive to sign of Change Order CO-12 to Bid PW-24-027SB for the Construction at the New Start Center of Everett with Marpac Construction LLC.
body
DEPARTMENT: Facilities and Fleet Management

ORIGINATOR: Lance Meinhold

EXECUTIVE RECOMMENDATION: Approved

PURPOSE: To obtain Executive approval of Change Order 12 to Marpac Construction.

BACKGROUND: The County and Marpac Construction entered into an agreement on December 18th, 2024, for the construction phase of the New Start Center of Everett. The City of Everett plan review process has necessitated several changes after the project bids were completed. The city is requiring a double check valve in a water vault on the main domestic water supply line to the building. The location of the vault is based on the existing location of the water pipes and will slow construction. The city is also requiring slightly larger trees than planed during the bid process. The demolition of the decorative trim around the columns at the walkway has revealed previous vehicular damage. To prevent future damage, we are adding protective bollards at vulnerable locations. Minor coordination is required to connect the fire alarm system to the fire protection system as required by the plan review process. During demolition, an existing electrical panel was discovered behind a painting. That panel will need to be removed as it interferes with the location of a new wall. A new panel will need to be installed. That panel will need all new feeders from the electrical gear, as the gear is also being relocated. All of the circuits from the existing panel will need to be rerouted to the new panel. The electrical panel relocation has been negotiated down by $10,000.
